Drug And Alcohol Rehab: Stages Of Recovery

If someone you know or love is addicted to drugs or alcohol abuse, then it is crucial to carefully handle the situation. Before you tell the person about the treatment for drug Detox options, you have to make a person understand the problem. With compassion and empathy, you can encourage your loved one to get the required help.

There are a number of addiction treatment programs and therapeutic approaches available to cater to the specific requirements of a person. Rehab can help you to take your life back from the substance for living it healthily.

Recovery from drug or alcohol abuse requires strong willpower, efforts, support, and time. When a person becomes part of a Rehab treatment program, he goes through the four stages of Drug recovery.

The four stages of Rehab treatment are:

Treatment Initiation

When you seek medical help, you are in the first stage of your drug recovery. In your early days, it may make you feel like; giving up could not be your permanent choice or drug abuse is not enough to kill you. These feelings are your first enemy in the path of recovery.

At this point in your life, the Rehab treatment will help you to explore the feeling of denial, make you look at the damaging side effects of drugs on your physical and mental health, and motivate you to recover faster. Also, If required, medical experts also prescribe the medicine to deal with the situation (only if the situation is worse).

During this stage, the drug history of a person is taken, and a customized treatment plan for healthy recovery.

  • Finding alternative behaviour to keep yourself busy instead of turning to drug abuse.
  • Joining the self-help groups for motivation and support.
  • Recognizing the triggers that cause cravings; this includes the people, places, and things

Maintaining Abstinence

Approximately after the 3 months of your treatment plan, you will be in this stage. If you are a part of the alcohol Rehab, you are in the stage of follow-up counselling and continuing care.
